Is the Alaska Standard a Palin bashing website?
By Dan Fagan
I’ve been receiving some complaints lately that the Alaska Standard has turned into a forum designed to make Governor Sarah Palin look bad. If that is the perception, it certainly is not intentional.
The model for the Alaska Standard is a simple one. Provide content to readers that they simply cannot find in the left-leaning mainstream media.
There are so many stories, perspectives and angles that the left, running most of the mainstream media, is not interested in covering. At the Alaska Standard, most contributors lean right and are interested in stories that don’t even register with liberals.
It is also important to remember the Alaska Standard is composed of many voices, most from the right, some from the left. As publisher, I do not restrain contributors in what they write. I do not tell contributors what to write. This is a wide-open forum encouraging all opinions.
To date, more than two-dozen contributors have voiced their opinion in the Alaska Standard in our short history online. Add that to all the bloggers contributing and the evidence is clear--opinion, a wide array of it, is welcome, encouraged, and displayed at thealaskastandard.com
This is the why we have seen amazing growth in the six or so weeks we’ve been online. As of today, according to our website provider, we have already received more than 170,000 page views in the month of January alone. Not one of us who started this venture expected to grow this quickly.
Which brings me back to Palin. It is indisputable the governor has leaned strongly to the left with her policies in her first two years as governor. She came close to admitting as much in a recent interview.
“The mainstream media in Alaska, they’ve loved me through those episodes. And then though the minute that is, that I’ve done something that is, you know, back to the conservative roots and we are not going to grow government in Alaska and we are going to develop our resources, and, that’s when even the mainstream media in Alaska they turn on ya. There’s so much hypocrisy in it all it’s pretty baffling," Palin said.
The governor claims the local media loved her because she criticized Republicans. That is true before she got elected. But the local media’s honeymoon with Palin lasted well into her first two years because she raised taxes through the roof and went to war with the evil oil industry. They turned on her once she turned on Democrats to endear herself with the national conservative base. Conservatives in Alaska who take time to understand her policies as governor realize her sudden turn to the right in rhetoric only is all hat and no cattle.
Many of the contributors to the Alaska Standard, including myself, remain critical of the governor because her anti-development policies are still in place and her war on the oil industry has intensified.
The governor has also become very deceptive in her rhetoric and many of us here at the Alaska Standard have called her on it.
So does this make us an anti-Palin website? No. It makes us a website that evaluates issues as we see them, without fear of how we are perceived. It makes us a website willing to take on any politician, no matter how popular and no matter how strong their cult-like following.
I’ve always believed if you worry too much about how people see you, then you won’t accomplish much. Trying to please man is one of the great cripplers of life. If readers reject the Alaska Standard because they think we are too anti-Palin, then so be it.
I can’t speak for our contributors, because they will write what they write. But I can speak for myself. When running the Alaska Standard, my radio show, or my Sunday Daily News column, I believe the last thought I should have is, "What will people think of me if I write or say this?"
I would hope what matters most to readers and listeners and what will allow us to succeed is if our only allegiance is to the truth, regardless of the fall out of speaking the truth.
The mainstream media in Alaska, they’ve loved me through those episodes.

Although she seems to have a knack for giving bloggers plenty of legitimate subjects about which to criticize, some people seem to manufacture additional ones.
I believe you have been guilty of this. There are plenty of things for you to go after but when you publish a poll that shows the governor in a negative light without telling who was polled, how many people were polled and who paid for the poll I have to say that you were publishing pure propoganda.
That particular poll, until it is corrected, colors everything else you say. It tells me that you were willing to publish half truths, which is really lieing. If you were willing to do it then, I cannot trust the rest of your reporting. Especially given the fact that you were asked specifically for those items and refused to divulge them
why did AIDEA move up the Jan 15 meeting date suddenly and approve the Healy deal without public comment? Something stinks to high heaven with this one and those keystone cops in Palin's administration.....Andrew Halcro is covering this extensively on his blog. But her royal highness and clan have their fingerprints all over this one...AGAIN.
Maybe the Youth can teach us old farts something.
Get out a calendar. What is today's date? What happens on January 20?
In the interview Obama spoke about his energy plan which includes an “aggressive” cap and trade policy which will charge polluters in an effort to curb greenhouse gas emissions. John McCain is also a supporter of cap and trade.
“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted.” Obama said, “That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in wind, solar, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches. The only thing that I have said with respect to coal, I haven’t been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.”
There is only 1-person to blame for EVERYTHING written about Sarah Palin ... and that is: SARAH PALIN, She presumed herself to be mentally equipped to run for national office -- a an 80-yr old (barely) cancer surviving heartbeat away from the highest office in the world. She actually BELIEVED herself worthy of such an awesome responsibility.
What WERE her qualifications? A bare minimum of FIVE different PARTY SCHOOLS *colleges at which she performed less than admirably -- barely managing sufficient credits to be considered a graduate.
She demonstrated ZERO INTEREST or understanding of the world at large. Blamed EVERYONE (but herself) FOR HER TAWDRY showing. And did virtually NOTHING to absorb the necessary knowledge to conduct cogent conversations. Instead of lying low and boning up on international and national matters of import, she continues to give RIDICULOUSLY VAPID interviews that only mock her further -- and give EVIDENCE of her actual LOW I.Q. When ALL you have is a good "look" ... one should capitalize on THAT while maintaining maximum silence. THANK GOD for a free press and journalists like the Standard, For too long, good people were FOOLED by a pretty package with virtually NO substance.
I had never heard of Gov. Palin before the elections, so I started learning more to see what she stood for. It is unbelievably hard at first to figure out who is neutral or close to neutral in what they report. Of course first searching I looked for newspapers. I ran upon ADN and the comment board. It wasn't long when I saw them buckle down to pressure about their comment section. Sorry for the brief history, but my point is this site is a welcome addition for my reading pleasure. I want the facts, to the point I can research them myself. So thank you for reporting like you should, like it should be done everywhere.
THE Alaska Standard is a welcome addition to my daily internet highway commute.
Why? Because I can be assured that no amount of intimidating calls from the Palin camp would make you change the content of your articles that are not attractive to Palin and her administration.
That kind of trust for a news source is few and far between.
Keep up the good work!
If what is written here is perceived as making Governor Sarah Palin look bad, there is only one person to blame: Sarah Palin.
The truth needs to be written... and read.
Thank you for your effort in setting the record straight.
"The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is." -Winston Churchill
Remember how they treated her,
but now everything she was saying is TRUTH.
And when are you guys and BEGICH going to
THANK her and DISCO RAY?
Dan,
I always thought to succeed is if the only allegiance is to the truth, regardless of the fall out of speaking the truth. However, you, ridiculed and demeaned those who do just that, speak the un-popular truth no matter what the fall out. Many were critics of Sarah Palin before she ever became a cult type figure. Thanks Dan for coming around.
I will put Alaska Standard on my daily read......
And you, my dear Syrin, have been speaking the truth longer than most. The best thing about this whole VP run is that she was finally exposed.
for instance, why did Palin's fourth legislative director just quit? That makes 4 in two years...and soon to be 5....aside from the cult followers, no one can handle working with Palin...she's nuts and has an intelligence inferiority complex. But that's not Palin bashing. Rather, I consider it to be a civic duty to hold elected officials accountable...at least to tell us the truth.
Dan Fagan, such a victim. He needs to get over this notion that he's a conservative champion against the mainstream.
Truth is, he's as mainstream as it gets in today's media world.
He works for Morris Communications, which publishes 13 daily newspapers across the country, including Georgia, Florida, Kansas, Texas, South Carolina, and Alaska.
Morris also has 33 radio stations, including six just here in Anchorage. Not to mention Morris' big book publishing arm, Globe Pequot.
He has a weekly column in a newspaper owned by McClatchy Co., America's third largest newspaper publisher, which owns 30 daily newspapers in 29 markets across the country.
He's mainstream, and being published by the mainstream. He's mainstream media.
Dan Fagan should let himself off that reinforced cross of outsiderdom he nailed himself to.
I am as left leaning as they come but find I enjoy the AK Standard.
I agree with the Standard's stance that Gov Palin is deceptive, delusional, out of touch and out for herself.
As 'Here I go again' said, keep pissin' off the Palins so we can continue to read the revealing posts on the AK Standard blog.
Alaskans have seen a whole new side of Gov Snowflake since the Voodoo VP spectacle, and it ain't purty. Yup, Yup.
Nope. Not Palin-bashing whatsoever. Alaska Standard reports the facts and that is precisely what should be reported. If Palin can't stand the heat, keep her on ice in Alaska - FOREVER ! Thank you.
This site didn't report on Levi Johnson. It questioned what it learned from others' reporting, and posted those questions here.
The Alaska Standard does no reporting. It reads others' reporting and spins it. This is an opinion site, not a news site.
...and do our own research.
As a left leaning Independent and no fan of the Governor or her policies, I enjoy nothing more than to watch conservatives argue about her. It gives me hope that not all conservatives are blinded by the Governor's b/s.
Dan, you keep saying that federal law requires that individuals must possess a high school diploma or equivalent to qualify for acceptance into an apprenticeship program. The federal regulations that pertain to apprentice program standards are contained in 29 CFR 29. Nowhere in this section do I read of any minimum educational requirements. Or am I missing something?
And don't worry about the the Palinbots. They get kinda' touchy at anyone that refuses to worship at the alter of their godess. Please keep in mind that these people aren't really interested in the truth if that truth paints the Governor in a bad light.
I've never been a fan of yours but I do agree with you from time to time. And I do appreciate the fact that you allow contrasting points of view to be aired here. Be careful. This tendency of allowing for intelligent debate is going to make you more popular among us commie liberals! Oh, and keep pissing off the Palinbots. I love it.
Dan addresses this facet of the issue in the article i wrote for the issue of the Anchorage Press that just came out. You can find it here.
Stieren - email me: bjk@anchoragepress.com
...the article you compiled for the Anchorage Press?
Thanks Brendan. I hadn't seen your article before.
The reason you reported the story was that you hoped to embarrass the Governor by 'proving' that she had pulled some strings to get her prospective son-in-law a job and you have been backing and filling ever since.
Let us know when you dig into the hiring practices at Teck-Cominco or Doyon Drilling or Peak Oil.
That won't happen because your sole aim is slinging mud at Sarah Palin.
And don't get fooled by page views. Alexa says you are in 4,206,429th place on the internet.
The reason you reported the story was that you hoped to embarrass the Governor by 'proving' that she had pulled some strings to get her prospective son-in-law a job and you have been backing and filling ever since. I'm no fan of Palin but I have to agree with JimAK here.
Wow, on the entire world wide web, we're in place number 4,206,429? You know what that is JimAK? Momentum. You can't stop us, you can only hope to contain us...
And, Jim, you're helping with the page views every day! I'm sure it's very much appreciated.
Dan, would that be the truth which ADN retracted last week?
...on many, many things, I'm getting pretty tired of the mischaracterization of the "retraction" regarding Levi Johnston.
As Andrew Halcro pointed out, Dan was right in his basic premise--Levi Johnston got a job he wasn't qualified for ahead of a list of QUALIFIED CANDIDATES.
Dan was also correct (as were Andrew and I) that he did so with influence from the Governor who gave him a letter of recommendation. I don't know about you, but I've known of highly influential people who have refused to give family members letters like that to avoid unduly influencing the outcome and the perception of impropriety. A letter of recommendation from a sitting Governor in regards to a "future" family member is inappropriate and highly prejudicial.
But you just keep up with that tired talking point. I guess you Team Sarah people have to hold on to something.
is far from a one trick pony. I'm one of those squishy moderates everybody hates, but more right than left. The issues with Gov. Palin really are non partisan, and I actually think conservatives have a lot more reason to be pissed than liberals do, they at least never were led to believe that she was one of them.
What drives me crazy about her, and I suspect a lot of other people as well
is, just the hypocrisy and classlessness of it all. Everything she is; as either a statewide or national politician is based on a reputation as a squeaky clean, ethical reformer. She came in over the bodies of (admittedly deserving) but mostly minor league miscreants, combined with a sitting governor with the popularity of herpes. For better or worse, when you are purer than thou, you are gonna get hit a lot worse when someone sees you doing the same stuff yourself.
I don't hate her as a governor, but, cmon folks, her entire legacy will at best be based on a gasline happening. In terms of AGIA making that happen, well I'd think you'd get better odds letting that guy who won the STARS lottery be the investment manager for the Permanent Fund. What she has been is vindictive and amateurish. Whether or not you think Troopergate was a big deal, anyone with enough smarts to hire people other than sycophants and high school pals would have been stopped from "going there" in the first place.
On the national level, well ... it has just been surreal. Depressing to me to see that so many people celebrate a lack of formal education and eloquence. Even after the disaster of the past eight years, there are at least some people who will vote for the person who is most "one of us." Ugggggh. That is THE definition of mediocrity. Even worse though is the cultlike adoration of a certain part of the Republican Base. They have fallen in love with someone who doesn't exist (and in her defense, not of her creation either). They are so anxious for the next Reagan that they are trying to create it out of nothing.
I reported the ASRC apprentice program was required by the feds to admit applicants only with a high school diploma or GED. That is correct but not worded properly. ASRC is required to come up with its own criteria and it made a diploma a part of it. The feds then take that criteria and make sure ASRC complies with it. To say the feds require ASRC to only admit applicants with a diploma is technically correct by doesn't tell the whole story. Admittedly I should have worded that part of my column better, but technically I was correct. The funny thing about it is most have used this to discredit my main point which is a sorry counter to my argument.
Dan Fagan
Thanks to the Internet, your original column is still available. Here's what you said:
Have you noticed how our governor seems to have convinced herself only some of the rules apply to her?
This attitude was really at the heart of Troopergate. It also allows her to do things like take cash from the state for spending more than 300 nights in her own home in Wasilla.
Now it appears the governor may have found a new way to skirt the rules. How is it possible that the governor's soon-to-be son-in-law, Levi Johnston, is working as an apprentice on the North Slope?
The governor, in trying to dispel rumors the father of her grandchild is a high school dropout, released this statement this past week,
"Levi is continuing his online high school work in addition to working as an electrical apprentice on the North Slope."
But federal regulations require all members of apprentice programs, union or otherwise, to first obtain a high school diploma, something the governor's soon-to-be son-in- law does not have. Some apprentice programs even require the completion of high school level algebra or the post-secondary equivalent.
So how is it that the governor's soon-to-be son-in-law is working in an apprentice program? Is this another case of the governor believing the rules don't apply to her or her family?
I placed a call to the governor's office but have not as of my deadline received a response. An attempt to reach Levi Johnston by phone at his mother's house was unsuccessful.
Did Levi Johnston bypass the rules to get into a coveted program because of his soon-to-be mother-in-law? We don't know the governor's involvement. Eventually she will have to address the controversy.
I believe 2009 will be the year more and more Alaskans will come to realize Sarah Palin is in way over her head as governor, doesn't always play by the rules, and is, at times, less than honest.
Now you'd like us to believe that you never accused the Governor of any wrongdoing but were questioning ASRC's policies. It's pretty clear who is being less than honest.
JimAK,
Am I correct that you are the same Palin supporter who has written literaly hundreds of pages on Halcro's site ?
Look I'll be the first to admit these blogs are sort of addictive and I enjoy the debate but you and several other Palin supporters like Tom Lamb seem to have taken this to a new level boarding on obsession with Dan, Dave and Sarah. The defensivness, anger and personal attacks are pretty odd unless you are pretty tightly linked to Todd and Sarah.
On Halcro's blog there was speculation that you had to be :
- A Palin Family Member
- Todd's Snowmobile partner or the guy who sells Todd his pricey toys
- A State Employee close to Sarah, since you seem to have time all day to monitor these sites and write endlessly every time anyone even hints that Sarah or Todd may have gotten their feet a little damp while walking on water.
Just give us a little perspective on why you are joined at the hip with these folks. Is it ideology, or is your financial wagon hooked to the Palin clan ?
Again, I was pretty much right their with you when she was running for office - it was just the Mat Maid Corruption, AGIA, Tax and Spend and her inability to tell the truth that send me running in the other direction. Just give us a little hint ?
The obsession is with Dan, and Halcro. There is not one point of credit given by Dan, on this site about Palin. Same applies with Halcro on his site.
There is much credit that can be stated about Palin's efforts and you under AKT can hide behind the fact that ignorance is bliss.
But when it comes to my own statements about Palin, she gets criticised and credited. It's publicly known. I just don't buy into the B.S. that Dan has been throwing out lately and as a conservative, he gives us true conservatives a bad name.
I will make one point here on how Dan and Halcro have behaved when it came to the AGIA process. Both talked extsensively about Pedro van Meurs credentials publicy. They thought he was sliced bread.
But what both screwd up on is; Van Meurs was on record agreeing with Palin on the tax issues and the ADN reported it. Neither one could argue against what Palin did because the very guy they were promoting agreed with Palin.
I am on record showing what Pedro did in Alberta and on the ADN blog I pointed to Dan not doing his homework on the matter. And I was critical of AGIA and Palin's efforts. I will gladly put my public statements out on the whole AGIA issue to include the future problems with Alberta, Gazprom, Russia, the steel mills etc, etc and put it up against Dan's promotion of van Muers or Halcro's promtotion of van Muers and both of them will look pretty foolish with what they said about van Muers .
Show us on this site where Dan or Halcro on his site, have talked about Palin's efforts on the polar bear suit or the newly formed suit on the beluga whales.
Show us on this site where an article was written about Begich, by Dan critical of him on the shortfall. Dan was dead silent. Moreover, Halcro had a nice one on Begich and ANWR but had Claman's pic on why is this man smiling.
Not one word by Halcro about the deficit Begich left. That's his perogative, as well as it is Dan's, but it is pretty obvious there is a negative obssesion on their part. And when Dan is right he hears from myself and others.
Spares us true conservatives who go by our real names of your blissful sense while hiding behind a moniker.
JimAK I just wanted to say thanks again for your rational response.
This stuff from Tom Lamb is just plain creepy. Look Tom you say your " obsession is with Dan and Halcro", I don't think many folks are going to buy that. You have this THING about Sarah. and it is clearly not healthy.
Good luck - I think in some twisted way you do have the interest of our great state at heart but if you think Sarah Palin is moving us in a positive direction, well I guess there is not even room here for a conversation. I don't believe Sarah Palin has the ability to govern this state or the best interest of our state in her heart. Again this is coming from someone who voted for her but for the last two years has seen nothing but incompetent and selfish behaviour.
let me help you out since you have a reading problem. It's not my obsession it's Fagan's, and Halcro's obsesssion.
Here is my record on AGIA and what the record is on Fagan.
http://thomasalamb.blogspot.com/2009/01/has-dan-fagan-become-know-it-all-palin.html
If Dan and people such as youself can't give credit when credit is do, then the "creepy behavior" is within yourselves.
As I said before, I publicly was against AGIA and critical of Palin. But I still see the good things that she has done.
However, you don't and that shows your negative obsession along with Dan.
Tom Tom Tom
- Others can not read
-Others are Obsessed
-Others don't give credit
- You were against AGIA but you still lovePalin
-Dan and Halcro are ignorant savages(when they don't agree with you)
Yup the world is full of those CWAZEY WABBITS out to get you and the Palins.
Sad thing is that I think you and I would agree on a lot of issues but your failure to recognize the damage Sarah Palin is doing to our states future will keep us from being blog buddies.
you're missing the point. Giving credit is part of the process of getting things done. It is clear by your rhetoric that you have issues with Palin on a personal level. I don't. I have issues with her position on certain policies.
Morover, putting a personal touch on saying I love her tells me that you have alot of emotional stock in your feelings towards Palin.
I don't get all wrapped up in the B.S. with those including you who clearly have made this some personal agenda. Moreover, I am not looking for blogging buddies.
Like I said, I wll stand on my record and put it up against Dan or Halcro and both will look a little hypocritical.
I can point to Dan's behavior when it comes to Carol Comeau, Begich and both Murkowskis and show the level of his behavior that puts us conservatives in a tough spot.
When you have run for a political office and you see the B.S. and hear the stories from parents, he has pulled softball interviews with people like Comeau and he becomes laughable hinting that she is a conservative (which he has done) when she clearly isn't.
Put simply, if she were a CEO of a company, she would have been terminated. When people's hard earn money is being spent foolishly, Dan will overlook that because she is a nice person and he likes her.
Then compare Dan when he was calling then Governor Murkowski a dumbass and now he has the former Governor writing an op-ed here.
Dan throws softball interviews with Begich. Of course he will cite the 4th avenue theater but that became personal. He will laude the time of when skycranes filled the Anchorage skyline and praise Begich even though, the housing market was setting to fall. He ignored that permits were falling off for two years and that revenue would be short because of that decline.
Dan hasn't checked into what happened to the Mckay building, the one that had Begich on top with a hard hat taking responsibility during his campaign.
Dan didn't do his homework when he was citing a robust economy when I knew and others knew at least one year ahead, there were builders that were going bankrupt and people who were being lead by real estate agents and were buying the builder's homes.
Now some of those new homes have warranty issues. Guess what.
Remember there was a mortage company that used to advertise with Fagan. And we know what happened with that mortage company. And correct me if I am wrong, Dan praised that company.
Dan missed on Van Meurs. He missed on Troopegate and now with the young man Levi.
I had hopes for Dan to raise that banner of journalism, but what he is doing presently and how he has acted with others, he has a long road to travel to get there.
You were savvy enough to link to your blog. Aside from the 2 lawsuits, (come on, they're gimme's), I'm interested in your view of the Good Gov's items of success. If the time she's spent on official press releases is true, then the real story isn't getting told by the "liberal" media. You have the floor...
would you rather have I put the whole damn thing on the comments section. The evidence was long. When you have some smart ass with a moniker making idiotic claims as the one did on this site it was in order.
For staters ask Dan what he said when Palin cut the budget last year. Then we can go from there.
But just for the heck of it I'll start from here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gi3oP74kMjA and go backwards.

More on Holder and FALN
You seem like a smart guy, I am sure you will be able to put the pieces together on Palin's comments on Ayers and Obama's nomination on Holder, the FALN and waterboarding.
She had more cajones on that one topic then McCain did during the whole campaign.
Moreover, if she is the liberal that you claim she is, that "gimmie" that you point to would be more like playing one from the sand trap.
Are we still rehashing the 08 campaign? You don't seem shy about long posts, so please, some quick bullet points, like right to work, cut state funding of abortions or tickets for women to fly to Seattle to get late term ones that are illegal here, less spending on new staff and more money devoted to infastructure, releasing her testimony like she demanded Renkes do, anything. 2 lawsuits and not liking Obama isn't a whole lot to hang ones hat on as being conservative. But you knew that or you wouldn't be playing the Obama card. I am a smart guy, thanks for noticing, and I'm smart enough to see blind devotion when it smacks me on the nose.
Dave,
Nice try but Tom and JimAK are not going to let you confuse them with logic or facts.
You are implying that the Queen may not be wearing a complete set of gold spun robes. And besides they must protect Sarah from those Cwazey Wasscally Wabbits.
Like kids jumping on a bed - it all seems like fun and games for the Palin bunch until someone bumps their head or you destroy the states economic future.
Dave and AKT here are some facts:
Bullet statement (only one is needed) in bold for those who (Dave) like to get to the point and quotes of loving praise for those who like a love story like Gone With The Wind.
You two will like these and AKT take note of personal sentiment. A love hate relationship of Palin perhaps? Moreover there is no sense in pointing to the facts with you two. Palin could lay golden eggs and both of you would be complaining that you didn't get scrambled eggs.
Dave, try running for a political office and take the heat by the MSM as she has done. She put her butt on the line when she brought up the Ayers issue and she was correct.
You may want to diminish that, but for those who have run for political office and may take a controversial position, it takes cajones. And for the two lawsuits, if she was the true liberal that you like to make her out to be, logic defies your comments.
Moreover, the lawsuits will if Plain is successful, save this economy. If they aren't, you can kiss any gas pipeline good bye.
As for you comments on funding for abortions? Read Alaska case law on the topic. Again, I know you are a smart guy and you will get the drift.
And Dan, the 400ft; I got a chuckle when I saw it, the internet and blogging is too easy. Especially sitting in the recliner drinking a beer. A sense of humor is needed with Palin or flowers from you.
You have to admit it Dan, this love hate relationship you have with Palin would make a good thread titled Gone with the Wind or would that be Gone with the Gas.
* Palin's simply doing the right thing *
"... Lisa Murkowski is U.S. senator today because Palin decided not to run against her. But she may still. Lisa, Don and, yes, even Ted, you better hope she feels at home at the mansion. Can you imagine running against her? What do you say, "I am the anti-truth-and-transparency candidate"?"
"... Palin is obsessed with integrity."
" ... How does she do it? Does she have ice flowing through her veins? Is she really that tough, that savvy? Is she calculating, cold blooded, vindictive?
No, the complete opposite. She has a heart of gold."
"....Character is why Sarah Palin has reached a level of power few politicians realize. It comes not from her issues, policies or positions. She didn't get it by bullying, being tough or hard headed. And no it's not her pretty smile. We know when this governor makes a decision, right or wrong, she makes it from the heart. People love that. As well they should."
Dan Fagan June 24, 2007
I know Sarah and Todd better than some but not as well as others. I haven't talked to either one or any of their family in over a year.
I derive no financial benefit from either and never have.
I'm not a state employee, I don't work in the oil industry.
What I am interested in is fair play. I don't have an issue with legitimate criticism but Halcro and Fagan clearly have big axes to grind. Read the mission statement for Alaska Standard. Try to keep a straight face.
I know Sarah and Todd also, I live in Wasilla, Sarah has never had a conservative or competent record, but people voted her in on false credentials. I derive no financial benefit from blogging the truth either and never have. My benefit will be that my children and grand children will inherit a much better Alaska than we have today with the Palin administration. The focus has to be on being fiscally sound, having a reasonable tax structure on resources, most importantly, competence and integrity in leadership.
I do work in the oil industry. Did it matter to you that Todd worked for BP when you voted for this piece of work? Does it matter that this Healy Clean Coal Scandal has people associated with the Palin's and named in this seemingly unethical business deal, from Jim Palin to Tom Irwin.
Jim- Please tell Sarah to Step Down as governor and retreat back into the woods of Lake Lucille for her family. If Sarah steps down before a recall is formed she will be viewed as selfless. Now, won't that be nice for her Jim.
Help Alaska's Future R E C A L L Palin
Good post Syrin. This administration has to be the most incompetent and corrupt in Alaska's history. MatMaid, AGIA, Trooper Gate, per diem, travel expenses, ignoring subpoenas, hiding emails, moving the capital one person at a time, AWOL most of the time, and no leadership. And now the Healy coal plant.
Frankly, there is NO Confidence in this administration to provide ethical and competent leadership on behalf of Alaska. If this kind of unethical behavior is what we know about...Think of all that is not open or transparent.
Haha -
JimAK - are you really Hobo Jim???? The way you defend Sarah and Todd I am guessing that's you!!!!
Bootsy,
I have met Hobo Jim he is clearly too smart to be carrying the water for the Palins.
I believe he loves Alaska and again has been around long enough to understand what is going on with this bunch and no way would he support this corruption and lack of honesty.
If I'm wrong and what you suggest is true I'll never be able to listen to HJ again.
