FCC license to retaliate

Having a talk show myself, I know how tempting it can be to use my show to settle a score. But I understand the privilege of having a talk show comes with a responsibility to my employer to not use the airways for a personal vendetta.
Which brings me to talk show host Eddie Burke. Andrew Halcro first reported on this story on his website andrewhalcro.com. It involves state Rep. Charisse Millett. Back in August, when Millett was running for office, she received a vile, graphic, sexually charged text from Eddie Burke in the middle of the night. When I say this text was graphic, the word graphic does not describe it well enough. It was a disgusting comment.
Millett, the next morning confronted Burke and told him what he did was wrong. She says Burke laughed it off and said the text was not meant for her. Millett contacted KBYR station management to complain about the incident. She was at first reluctant to, fearing Burke might use his show to retaliate. Millett says KBYR station management assured her Burke would not be allowed to attack her.
That was then, this is now. Here’s what was reported on andrewhalcro.com,
“Yesterday, a local radio talk show host, (Eddie Burke) known for his ability to give out women's phone numbers on the air, reportedly took an Anchorage lawmaker to task for her co-sponsorship of a bill to modify the initiative process and then gave out her number over the air.
The host gave out the phone number of Rep. Charisse Millett over and over again during his rant and encouraged people to call her and complain about HB36. What's odd is that the host didn't bother to include the phone numbers of the main sponsor (the one who actually controls the bill) or the other co-sponsor of the bill, only Millett's?”
So what will KBYR management and owner John Klapperich do about Burke using his show to get back at Millett for complaining about him sending her a vile, sexually charged text?
Burke of course has a troubled past, once charged with sexually assaulting a woman after grabbing a waitress by her crotch according to charging documents. Granted, the sexual assault charge was several years ago. Now Burke apparently has switched to sexually assaulting women using text messages and his cell phone.
KBYR management, what say you? John Klapperich, what say you? Will you continue to allow Burke to attack Rep. Millett after she complained about his behavior? Or is the message clear, don’t cross Burke, or he will use his show to get back at you if you complain about him sexually harassing you.
It may be easy for some to believe I am writing this story because my show is on the same time as Burkes’. But in the latest book, I beat Burke by a margin of two to one. He is hardly a competitor.

No one wants to be a bad boss in the eyes of his employees. It is maybe because the boss doesn't have a good time with their subordunates. Just about everyone has heard some malarkey about theories of management (Types X, Y, and Z and so forth – in reality, there are two types, one of which is…it rhymes with "gas mole") and that's fine for business/management majors writing a paper, but there is a reality of dealing with a bad boss. It makes employment almost unbearable. Bosses that don't listen, don't know what they’re doing, and love to micromanage and seem to not get the fact that the time they spend cajoling everyone could be used fixing the actual problems. (Not many get that one, that's for sure!) I imagine many businesses would probably save more than a few payday loans worth a year by dumping bad bosses.

if this story had any legs...she would have went to the police....right....take it to the police....press charges......then we well all know what is the truth....but she is a coward much like you....you simply use your show to push what ever lie you want to belive...there is no proof of what you are saying...none...it was a mistake due to a email address feature....and frankly the note...consistied of three or four words about a mans body part....and the email dose not even refer to her...the commit also falls well with in the context of the conversation eddie was have with his friend .....if there was an investation........ the police would lean that....we have all made commits about are male part to are friends........even you dan....but, do you know what us real men don't do....we dont rat the others out.....and then lie about...you know dan i can read you like a book.....you are that transparent...bro's befor #&^@.....

What has nothing to do wit his show or kbyr? His offensive text message or his repeated on air attacks against her?
Everyone with any sense knows that Burke is a joke. I was surprised that KBYR hired him after he got canned from KFQD. I wonder if him being fired from his KFQD morning show for asking Amber if she liked to be spanked? That comment floored me when I heard it on the air.
This guy is a joke, and KBYR should know that. I won't listen to that channel as long as they have him in the line up.
In my opinion, this fella is the classic offender who abuses women. The signals and signs are saying "HEY YES, I HATE WOMEN." TO SEND SEXUAL EXPLICIT MESSAGES to our representatives is another story. Oh my goodness, what is next? Why does this fool get a credibility pass here? He obviously has a problem with females' and needs some rehabilitation.

Because things get a little hot here, I'll give you a chance to apologize. I'm sure you didn't mean that only handsome men can sexually harass someone. I'm sure you want to consider your next post on this subject carefully, or you're done. If you are an akmale, you'll want to cool your jets on this. If you are a friend/fan of Eddie's, I'm pretty sure not even he would think you're helping his cause.
The definition of "competitor" aptly describes the commercial relationship between you and Mr. Burke, as well as with Mr. Halcro, during the 2 to 4 PM timeframe.
Recently an "Alaska Ear" column in the ADN noted that Mr. Burke did better than expected in Arbitron ratings with key demographic groups that you both covet. I have no knowledge if the column or ratings were accurate.
My point: listeners and readers should consider the fact each of you are in spirted competition with one another when evaluating comments you make about one another. You each function in a highly competitve environment where hyperbole is often the norm.
by the Ear, (KFQD has double the listeners in the PM time slot as KBYR), you didn't address the point that the first place or last place talk show host loves the ladies, and seems to enjoy the latest craze of sexting them just to let 'em know...
Dave, I did not have any information on that issue that would further the story, so I elected to say nothing. Would that others would do the same.
I did note I had no way of verifying if the "Alaska Ear" column was accurate. Why am I not surprised it was not. As they say, "the truth is sooo limiting."
My point of contention was with the ear, and not with anyone else. I was a bit harsh, and I'm sorry.
I have refrained from comment on Eddie Burke. It seemed that his obvious stupidity and inability to muster coherent argument would have put an end to his charade of a radio show long ago. But, it keeps limping on and on and on and on. True, Eddie has his supporters, but I refuse to listen any longer. When I am on the Slope, I won't switch over to NPR, but will opt for the sound of my tires on the gravel road, rather than listen to Burke continue to embarrass "conservatives". Remember when Mark Levin used to have this spot? Now that was radio.

Eddie Burke is a pig that needs to be yanked off the air. KBYR management needs to seriously re-assess Burkes timeslot and replace him with someone more intellegent (which won't be hard since he acts like someone with a one digit IQ) and less likely to use the kind of tactics against women that he is apparently comfortable with. This is not a first amendment issue or a Dan v. Eddie issue, it is a management issue at KBYR. I for one will not listen to KBYR or utilize the businesses that sponsor a low life slob like Burke...and by the way Eddie, I'm not some girl that's intimidated by you. You need some serious counselling as does the managers at KBYR. I apologize to Standard readers for any language I've used to express my outrage but sometimes you have to call a spade a spade.
As the story goes, Churchill was engaged in conversation with a woman at a party.

Similarly, now that we've established that the management at KBYR is integrity-challenged, we're just waiting to see if it's totally devoid of character. Any wagers?
Ah, another weapon of mass distraction. Rep. Millet is taking the right course to discuss this with KBYR. There's no excuse for tacky behavior like that. But is it really worthy of further public discourse? I think not. As an elected official, Rep. Millet is developing a thick skin already regarding outrageous behavior by certain members of the electorate. Nothing new about that.
Going forward, I think I'd rather watch Oprah than whine about what to "do" about Eddie Burke. WYSIWYG imho.
Rep. Millet is doing the right thing and KBYR needs to have their feet put to the fire. If KBYR does not take forceful action to stop this, the FCC should consider taking their license.
Rep. Millet nor any other legislator should have to put up with such crap.
