Group Runs Facebook Ad Asking Palin to "Stop Lying"

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin set off a frenzied debate about health care reform when she accused President Obama of planning to establish "death panels" via health care reform. Now, proponents of the president's health care agenda are taking to Palin's preferred medium to attack her claims, with a Facebook ad asking Palin to "stop lying."
The labor-affiliated group Americans United For Change is running the Facebook ad directly targeted at the more than 800,000 listed "supporters" of Palin on Facebook, according to Greg Sargent of the Washington Post blog the Plum Line.
"Health insurance reform is too important for outright lies," the ad says. "Send Sarah Palin a message; tell her to stop lying about 'death panels.'"

For the same reason, it is as predictable as the sunrise that medical care for the elderly will be cut back under a government-controlled medical system. Because that's where the money is.
My experience is probably not very different from that of many other people in their seventies. My medical expenses in the past year have been more than in the first 40 years of my life-- and I did not spend one night in a hospital all last year or go to an emergency room even once.
Just the ordinary medical expenses of keeping an old geezer going along in good health are high. Throw in a medical emergency or two and the costs go through the roof.
So long as my insurance company and I are paying for it, it is nobody else's business what my medical expenses are. But once the government is involved, everything is their business.

What countries? What is being proposed is not government controlled health care anyway. That would be a single payer system that has already been taken off the table.

Well at least he admits that there is a huge unmet need in this country for medical care that the "free market" has not, can not and will not ever address. What is baffling is the term "depends on how much they have contributed to those resources." What measure should we use to determine how much people contribute? Is it merely how much you earn? Does that mean a 19 year old kid with hundred million dollar arm has contributed more than say a grade school teacher for 50 years? Or is he suggesting that medical care should simply be a commodity that only those with means should be able to purchase? Or perhaps he's suggesting his own "death panel" to decide who has contributed sufficiently to deserve medical care.
"But a world in which individuals make their own trade-offs with their own money is fundamentally different from a world where third parties take those decisions out of their hands and impose their own notions of what is best for "society"".
He can't be so far removed from the day to day life and struggles of the common man to not understand that we already have a "third party" making those decisions. It's the for profit insurance industry. They don't care about society. They don't even really care about their customers, average work a day joe's who pay their premiums year after year, eat the costs of high deductibles, only to be dropped because they lost their job, or because they got too sick and costly. THAT is the reality TODAY and it is getting worst each day that passes without health care and health insurance reforms.

To the misguided thugs on the left, I would address them to the US Senate finance Committee, who dropped the death panels from the House bill, after Sarah Palin educated the rest of us about them. Then I would address the issue of the Death Book, at the VA, as I'm a veteran, I find it unacceptable for the VA to encourage Veterans to commit suicide. These are not funny, or lies. A death Panel by any other name is still a death panel, just like a tax by any other name is still a tax. So I call "Americans United for Change,"UnAmerican, and hypocritical.
