Leaked e-mails proves global warming the biggest, most expensive hoax in American history.

The leak of 160 meg of e-mails, computer modeling code, spreadsheets and other data from East Anglia University’s Climate Research Unit has exposed over a decade of fraudulent climate science “proving” the existence of manmade global warming. It has thoroughly documented the complete corruption of the peer review process and corruption of the scientific journals used to publish those results. At this point, not only are the conclusions that there is global warming now in question, but the data that led to those conclusions now suspect. And the corruption exposed engulfs the scientific community, the scientific journals, the UN IPCC, several universities, and even Obama’s Science Czar John Holdren, who has and still is participating.

What are the implications of this for us here in Alaska?

First of all, I would think that it is going to be a whole lot of fun in federal court fighting the listing of the polar bear as an endangered species and by extension, the use of that threatened status to lock up a quarter million square miles of Arctic Ocean as critical habitat. Now that this data, more importantly the e-mails that document willful obstruction of Freedom of Information Act requests for data and computer models here in the US and in Great Britain, is available, I expect an intelligent team of lawyers working for the state will be requesting some very interesting things in discovery. Imagine also the list of witnesses for the state, Michael Mann, author of the Hockey Stick, Phillip Jones, who said he was going to destroy data rather than turn it over to skeptics, John Holdren, who used his position to professionally destroy the profession reputations of a pair of solar physicists who had the temerity to publish a paper offering proof of the Medieval Warm Period when the Vikings colonized Greenland (back when Greenland was green enough to farm). I think the State of Alaska will win this lawsuit and predict drilling offshore.

Next could be the utilities in Alaska, who are busily planning on an energy generation future that does not use coal. The utilities have been working away from coal for years, mostly in response to expected federal legislation and / or EPA regulations on carbon dioxide emissions. The rationale for that legislation and regulation has just been blown up, which does not necessarily mean that this congress of the Obama administration will try it anyway. But the leak does arm us with the truth, for if there is no global warming, it can hardly be manmade. And if there is no manmade global warming, carbon dioxide, a natural part of the atmosphere vital for plant growth, is once again our friend. The state of Alaska has more coal than Saudi Arabia has oil. It needs to be considered as part of our overall energy and economic future.

Finally, we have a congressional delegation, particularly in the US Senate that has been supportive of the notion of global warming. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R, AK) has been working to modify federal legislation and rules on carbon dioxide emissions so that they will not significantly impact Alaska. But she has not actively fought the notion of manmade global warming. On the other hand, our Boy Senator, Mark Begich (D, AK) has surrounded himself with all manner of True Believer greens. Indeed, he was elected with their money and has been strongly pushing the green agenda. I wonder what he will do now that their entire reason for being has been shown to be the biggest, most expensive hoax in American history.

Make no mistake, the world of climate change has changed completely over the last ten days. Global warming does not exist. Indeed, one of the most damning e-mails released was written a decade ago and was discussing how to hide the decline in global temperatures. If global warming does not exist then manmade global warming does not exist either. And if neither exists, they can hardly be caused by manmade carbon dioxide emissions.

The real sadness of this entire episode is the corruption of the scientific method and the peer review process by $97 billion dollars of federal money. The sun has been very quiet for a few years, and lack of sunspots correlate quite nicely with times of global cooling. Look up the Maunder Minimum and the Dalton Minimum as examples. A colder than normal temperature will hit us here in Alaska earlier and harder than our countrymen in the Lower 48. But will anyone believe the Smart Boys the next time they cry wolf?
