Leaked Emails Can’t Be Ignored

It has all the earmarks of a blockbuster thriller - greed, corruption, lust for power, obstruction of justice, and more. It's been called the biggest scandal in history. Organized scientific fraud. Cap-and-trade con game. A conspiracy. One thing the mainstream media hasn’t called it is news.

I’ve been riveted by the blogosphere's stunning "ClimateGate" revelations unfolding by the minute since November 20. It leaves me more disheartened than ever with the MSM’s long-standing failure to represent skeptics’ contention that CO2, a trace component of the atmosphere, never has and never will be capable of measurably affecting climate or weather anywhere on the planet.

Because the ClimateGate players were caught aiding UN-sponsored efforts to realign the global political, economic and environmental power structure (and the trillions of dollars to go with it), you have to ask: How could the MSM (with few exceptions) ignore something this huge, this frightening?

More than three thousand emails and documents were leaked – now believed most likely by a disillusioned employee (hero?)- from computer records at the UK’s University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit (the CRU) and placed on a Russian server for all to see. Another thought was that the files might have been released by mistake after having been isolated in anticipation of legal demands to comply with freedom of information requests. The CRU, partially funded by the US, maintains global surface temperature records and associated data which CRU officials had repeatedly refused to release.

A blogger at climateaudit.org noted: “The main reason CRU is obligated to make its data and methods public is not due to the public money they receive (though that is important). Rather, they need to do it because they are trying to drive global policies that will change the way we all live our lives and cost the world trillions of dollars. You cannot expect the world to make huge changes in the way it behaves on the say so of a few people who will not make their evidence public.”

With this exposé, the public may finally begin to comprehend why concerned citizens have fought so hard to oppose the brilliantly executed campaign that has successfully defamed fossil fuels and carbon dioxide. Count on it - everything the campaigners wanted (except a new global treaty) is in legislation before the U.S. Congress, e.g., Waxman-Markey and Boxer-Kerry.

Dr. Tim Ball, quoted in the Canada Free Press (11-24-09) about ClimateGate, said: “The files contain so much material that it is going to take some time to put it all in context. However, enough is already known to underscore their explosive nature. It is already clear the entire claims and positions of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) are based on falsified manipulated material and is therefore completely compromised.”

The significance of what some of the world’s most powerful scientists have done was described in no uncertain terms by Lord Christopher Monckton (11-23-09 at Pajamas Media Blog): On their word, he said, the world’s political class “proposes to set up an unelected global government this December in Copenhagen, with vast and unprecedented powers to control all formerly free markets, to tax wealthy nations and all of their financial transactions, to regulate the economic and environmental affairs of all nations, and to confiscate and extinguish all patent and intellectual property rights.” Can you even imagine letting this happen?

These under-the-radar actions have direct bearing on economic and environmental decisions taking place here at home. Alaskans have been lax in informing themselves about the costs of potential local mandates governing energy use and CO2 emissions, as well as federal climate change legislation. That’s a dangerous thing to do, as Alaska stands to lose more than perhaps any other state from provisions in pending bills. If CO2, manmade or otherwise, is not a problem, what should citizens do? Become informed advocates. Urge family and friends wherever they live to ask their congressional representatives to explain their position:

*When carbon dioxide is officially pardoned for the alleged crime of causing global warming, will you vote to rescind all laws and regulations tied to reducing carbon dioxide emissions?

*Will you change the law so all the agencies promising to make climate change their highest priority, especially the Fish and Wildlife Service, will be prevented from doing so?

*Will you work to stop the onslaught of environmental lawsuits now using global warming as grounds to rake in billions of tax dollars?

*Will you implore the Obama Administration not to send representatives to the December United Nations Copenhagen meeting?

There is no climate crisis. Little did I know, speaking to the Alaska Miners Convention on global warming policy and federal "cap and trade" legislation earlier this month, that the ClimateGate revelations could leave Emperor Al Gore and his followers with nothing to wear during the cold winters ahead.

AND THE WOLVES WILL EAT ALL OUR MOOSE IF WE DONT STOP THEM!

These leaked e-mails point out something that many of us have known for years.  That many of the claims by the global warming alarmists are bogus.  Take for instance the often made claim that CO2 traps heat; nothing traps heat, nothing.  When a gas, such as CO2, absorbs heat radiation, it immediately retransmits that heat until the temperature of the gas reaches an equilibrium with its surroundings, and since the only other important gas that can absorb such heat is water vapor, the radiation is quickly lost to space.

CO2's only importance as a greenhouse gas is that it closes a small window in the absorption spectrum of water vapor and in the absence of water vapor, heat is lost to space.  On the planet Mars the surface pressure is about 7 millibars, almost all CO2, and when the sun goes down the temperature drops like a rock because the heat is quickly lost to space.  On earth the partial pressure of CO2 is about 0.3 millibars, 21 times less than mars, and on a clear winter night the temperature drops quickly, and will continue to do so.

it's all a question of timing.  If you take a look at the number of days between the highest temperature in the summer and the lowest in the winter, you will find that for most observation sites, the number of days is exactly the same now as it was many years ago.  If CO2 was trapping the heat, you would find that the number of days it takes to cool the air would increase with an increase in CO2, but that is not the case.

When evidence is presented that shows warming is due to other causes, such as changes in the sun's output, the CO2 alarmists go into ostrich mode and stick their head in the sand.  Global warming is not science, it is a religion.

Your arguments weren't quite enough to get me to switch become a climate atheist.

"nothing traps heat, nothing." How about the atmosphere?  CO2 does slow the escape of long-wave radiant heat from the mass of the earth faster than the other gases therefore warming the others, and just as importantly to life on earth, it reflects heat back to the earth. It works in conjunction with water. It seems to me that you are stating that the whole idea of an atmosphere is bogus?

I am not following you on the Mars analogy. Yes the atmospheric pressure on Mars is generally 7 millibars, about less than 1 percent of Earth. Indicating that there isn't much of an atmosphere, but yes 95% of it is CO2. Are you implying that there should be a greater temp rise due to the higher percentage of CO2 in the Martian atmosphere?  Apparently there is a greenhouse effect on Mars that accounts for the temps there being more than if there was no atmosphere.

"It is a matter of timing." Think of it as a boat. The whole boat is rising. The highs are higher, the lows are higher, the cycle remains.

"When evidence is presented that shows warming is due to other causes...." No one is saying that there are not alot of other factors out there, many that aren't fully understood. Science is a process, it evolves and progresses. I don't find the deniers evidence as compelling as the vast majority of the science out there. As to it being a religion, how would you support that statement? Sounds kinda like a soundbite I have heard before. I mean really, do you think there is a vast conspiracy of thousands of scientist trying to take away your hummer? That would be great. We wouldn't have to change a thing and producing energy would remain easy.  Please show me the evidence beyond a few private emails stolen from a few scientist released right before the start of a global conference on climate change.

When I wrote that "nothing traps heat, nothing".  I was stating a literal truth.  The finest thermos bottle will hold the heat of its contents only a few hours.   There is a big difference between trapping heat and absorbing it.  All things absorb heat through radiation or conduction, but nothing can trap it.  And to claim that CO2 is a heat trapping gas is at best an exaggeration and at worst a deliberate lie.

You wrote "Are you implying that there should be a greater temp rise due to the higher percentage of CO2 in the Martian atmosphere? "  No,  I am saying that 21 times as much CO2 in the Martian atmosphere compared to earth's atmosphere did not trap the radiation and it escapes to space, and does it very quickly.  If it were not for water vapor, the earth would be a very cold planet indeed, just like on Mars.

I an not scientific, but I do a lot of research.  Usually, if I want to understand what's really going on, I put "Goldman Sachs" or "Morgan" in my search terms.  Try it with "Climate Change" or "Global Warming."  It's not enough that we just bailed these greedy &$^@(*! out with our tax dollars - no, they are looking for more money and power/control in everything.  Maybe their buddy Gore won't get to gorge himself on the fruits of his fear mongering efforts after all?  Look up Goldman Sachs and health reform for grins.

NO to the New World Order!

"Conspiracy" Theorists: 1

Illuminati:  0

Well that is it. Deniers win.

A few rogue scientists, responsible for a limited amount of data, have shot down the entire body of evidence, produced by hundreds of scientists, of the impact of greenhouse gases on the climate. Alright! Let's fire up those coal plants!

You devotion to global waming horsecrap is amazing, science is not a consensus viewpoint, how about a M.I.T scientist Richard Lizden who debunks myths perpetuated by dopes like AL( fat bastard) Gore.

Why worry 2012 is around the corner its over anyhow, I believe the Mayans as much as Gore.

I remember the Time magazine cover declaring the next Ice age .that happend ,right?

There are in fact hundreds of scientist who dispute man made global warming, the point is paying trillions and having no effect, and turning us into a third world country.

While the worlds largest polluters refuse to take part i.e. China, India, Pakikstan and Russia.

99% the scientists thought the world was flat.

FW,

Better tighten up those blinders, put the ear plugs in a little deeper and move your nose a little closer to the sheep blindly marching in front of you. You and your ilk had better do something to avoid seeing or hearing the truth or you will have no purpose.

I'm not sure about coal plants but lets move in a direction based on honest science and away from the destructive path you and Al Gore have plotted for our children.

The daylight can be scarey but give it a shot.

is your pied piper?

I can't figure out why these documents needed to be leaked.  If the public funds research, all workproduct of the researchers should be public.

And this UK gov't. sponsored ad (6 million pounds sterling) designed to scare children...

I remember a Botany professor at the Univ. of Wis. telling us he lied in testimony before a state legislative hearing on some environmental issue because if he told the truth he was afraid they wouldn't do the right thing.

Thank you for this new contribution to public education, Paula.  Though my webpage mostly deals with gas pipelines, I linked your story along with a number of related articles emerging all over the country today, because the implementation of climate change legislation would needlessly injure the future of Arctic gas pipelines and northern economies like ours.
