New evidence surfaces Mark Begich cooked the books even worse than originally thought

On Friday during an Assembly budget work session, we learned former Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich deceived the public and Assembly yet another time in trying to ram through union contracts that the city clearly could not afford.
Begich has already been caught red-handed intentionally hiding a memo provided to him from his Chief Financial Officer predicting a deficit as high as $100,000,000. Begich dishonestly painted a rosy picture of the city’s finances just before he asked the Anchorage Assembly to lock in four, five year lucrative union contracts.
Now a new revelation on Friday shows the Begich administration also deceived the public and the Assembly about the money remaining in the city’s fund balance account. Begich inflated the amount of money in the fund balance by close to $30,000,000. The rosier the picture Begich painted, the better the chance the Assembly would go along with his expensive labor contracts to make good on promises made to his Big Labor supporters.
We first broke the story of the second Begich deception on Friday on the radio. Channel Two and Channel Eleven news have since reported on the new development in the scandal. The Anchorage Daily News has refused to report on the latest case of Begich cooking the books.

Sharon Weddleton and St. Mark of Begich must be held accountable. They are not above the law. Accountants must be honest and this recent episode of deception must addressed. It is crucial that Mark Begich not be allowed to slide this by. He is far more culpable in this deception than Ted Stevens ever was in his dealings with Ol' Bill Allen. Mark Begich is not better than the rest of us. He is not royalty, regardless of the faith of his Democrat party followers. Perhaps it is time to chisel the names of deified Democrats like Nick Begich, Ernest Gruening and even Martin Luther King from Alaskan buildings and rename them after men and women who have given their lives for our country. Enough is enough. No more lies. Hold Weddleton and Begich accountable.
Not only does the ADN refuse to report these things about Begich, but they won't even allow me to discuss them on their blogs. Late last night I posted something similar to this:
"At 1:07 pm on 2-10-05, Begich illegally instructed the Dept. of Information Technology to destroy my entire e-mail account and, 14 minutes later, 4,000 'public records' were erased from the municipal servers. Never fear, I can easily prove the crimes Begich committed, many of them felonious, and the things he desperately wants to keep hidden."
Being late on a Sunday night, I thought this post might survive a little longer than most, but nope -- it was removed within an hour.
Begich also erased the entire hard drive of my municipal computer, and shredded all of the records that were in my office (I was a paramedic battalion chief with the AFD). All of this was in response to a discovery request the MOA received just one day before, on 2-9-05. The MOA was required to preserve my thousands and thousands of records as "permanent," but instead they very illegally destroyed them all. And they forged and/or falsified extremely important documents.
From my perspective, the ADN's conduct constitutes aiding and abetting, conspiracy, misprision of a felony, accessory after the fact, obstruction, deprivation of rights, censorship of free speech, etc., etc. I do not personally attack anyone, I ONLY state demonstrable facts.
There is nothing unusual about the CFO's corruption of documents, this conduct is rampant within municipal administrations. Stating the obvious, I have an awful lot to say and it's high time I get my story on the road. The Municipal Attorney knows my allegations, I look forward to hearing his report, sometime today.
when America wants to vet a politician that vetting process starts with the local news papers. No news is good news for mark. I have been banned on ADN for pointing out a former mayor canidate, who was a democrat, that he was a dead beat dad. Those records can be discovered through the states records dept. From that time I have not been able to blogg on ADN. What is funny the editor is still on that canidates facebook site as a friend and supporter. You are right the ADN covers up for the dems as a matter of proceedure. Take Ted Stevens, remember all the articals, 100's, if Stevens was the name ADN was building a case for those that like to fact check. This screams to be investigated, wheres the FBI? If they did it to Stevens why not begich?
anytime they see fit as long as its "for the agenda". Do you really think with all the proof mark is for all Alaskans? I say no, just some Alaskans, those that pay to play. Please how much crap are we going to allow this low life to achieve? Wheres the threshold of honor and honesty? begich does not have it. Dump him like he dumped us. Wheres the FBI?
