A reasonable argument can be made that Sarah Palin did the right thing when she quit after two and a half years into her first term as Alaska governor.
Yes she let many down when she asked us for her vote and then quit after a couple of years on the job. And yes some would argue the only reason she quit was for more money and fame. But regardless of her motives, her quitting could end up saving the country.
Even Palin critics would have to admit she is a mighty force on the political scene. Whether it’s firing up the base, raising gobs and gobs of money, or being a thorn in Barack Obama’s side. There’s not a single political leader in the Republican Party who can come even close to motivating the base as Sarah Palin has.
Name any Republican leader, Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, only Palin can draw multiple thousands. Others can draw maybe a few extra hundred at the local Rotary meeting. When Sarah Palin comes to town, people line up for blocks. They don’t meet at the Rotary club, they rent auditoriums.
Sarah Palin has within her power to bring about great change in our nation. She can do this by ushering in a Republican resurgence in Congress.
I doubt the dollar can survive four full years of a Barack Obama presidency combined with Democrats controlling Congress. Eventually we’ll end up printing and borrowing too many trillions and our dollar will become worthless wiping out most of our wealth.
But if Republicans can take back the senate and house next year, it will greatly derail Mr. Obama’s runaway spending and his socialization of America.
No one is better-equipped and positioned to help Republican candidates across the nation get elected than Sarah Palin.
When Palin rides into to town to stump for you, crowds show up in droves. Supporters open their wallets and purses and your opponent won’t know what hit him.
Palin’s book tour has led to a revival of her status as leader of the conservative movement.
A new Washington Post poll released Monday found Mrs. Palin outpacing party rivals for the affection of core Republican voters. At 18 percent, she was the single highest vote-getter among the party faithful as the "person who best reflects the core values of the Republican Party." She had three times the number of votes received by key rivals such as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
Palin’s influence and popularity with conservatives should only grow from here. To her supporters, the media is irrelevant. The mainstream media has been so amazingly bias, attacking and unfair to her, it has lost all credibility when reporting on Palin. It doesn’t matter how negative the media attacks on Palin are, her supporters simply won’t believe it.
As Palin uses her popularity with conservatives, a popularity that is in some ways unprecedented in modern political history, she will become a real power broker within the Republican Party. She is clearly the party’s top fundraiser. There is no close second.
If Palin had served out her final two years as governor, she would not have been able to travel the country raising money and helping other candidates. And really what could she have accomplished with her third and fourth legislative session? She lost most of her allies in the Alaska Legislature and the local media turned on her once she turned conservative to run with John McCain.
Did she make the right decision in quitting? Will she end up better serving her country on the road campaigning for others instead of being tied down to the Alaska governor’s job? Does the Republican Party have a better chance of taking back the house and senate with Palin on the campaign trail? Could Sarah Palin end up saving our republic because she quit as governor? You betcha!

Is a Cheney Candidacy in 2012 really in the cards? Probably not. Given his precarious health, it's not very likely that he will even live to see the next election. But then again, nearly three years ago - on this very site - I wrote a piece called, "Richard B. Cheney 1941-2007" where I predicted that he would not even live to see the '08 election. I wasn't hoping for him to die (cross my heart, I wasn't!) it was simply that, given his history of heart attacks, I was just being realistic.
But like the imaginary science fiction screenplay I've written about the man "The Thing That Wouldn't Go Away", he remains - tormenting the daylights out of us for as long as his precarious mortality will allow.

What we have here is one of those mixed-blessing kind of moments. Dick Cheney won't be going away anytime soon, of that you may be certain. And as long as he remains at the extreme-right-of-center-stage of this extremely amusing review, I think I just might stick around for the show. It is the type of scenario destined to provide truckloads of joy for progressives all over the country: Cheney and Sarah Palin, ripping each other to bloody shreds in the primaries of 2012. Answer: To begin with, REAL scientists are not supposed to work together in perfect harmony. They are supposed to ascertain the facts, and keep challenging and testing to confirm the facts. There are also thousands of scientists who disagree with those perpetrating the hoax, who have been shut out of the debate. Why would any scientist be shut out of a scientific debate?
For example, there is no rational relationship between CO2 levels - CO2 is a transparent plant food - and global temperatures. Someone noticed a loose correlation and decided that it was a "cause". They actually have it backwards. CO2 rises AFTER it gets warm.
It makes more sense that it is the sun that is to blame a) because it is the sun that makes it warmer in summer than in winter, in case you haven't noticed, b) Pluto and Mars are also warming without a single human in sight, c) the total CO2 in the atmosphere is less than 0.04% of the atmosphere, and two thirds of this is natural, and d) Even shutting down all human activity in only the western countries, while Russia, China, India, Mexico, Brazil, Australia and every less developed country continues business as usual is not going to change anything that is going on. Why? Because this is like having a smoking section in a room and pretending to control the smoke in the room.
The biggest so-called " greenhouse gas" is water vapor, a.k.a. clouds. Try controlling clouds.
Let me suggest one reason why these "scientists" are doing what they are doing. It's called FOLLOW THE MONEY, a.k.a. research grants. People who scientifically find that nature is working as it always has find it very difficult to get research grants. Those who claim the sky is falling are the ones who get the research money because they scare the crap out of the gullible, who then want them to come up with solutions.
Let me suggest another reason based on the fact that all the previous socialists are now to be found in the environmental movement. They want to do through the back door what they failed to do through the front, bring the developed countries down towards the lowest common denominator.
Using climate change as a scare tactic they seek to slowly but surely impose their will on everyone else and begin to exercise control over the economies of the world. This was the ambitious objective that the old Soviet Union failed to achieve when it collapsed from it's own economic absurdities and inconsistencies.

I note with interest that Palin stalker Joe McGinniss thinks it's a crime for Sarah Palin to take a private jet from Florida to Washington State. I think those 650,000 people wouldn't last long here because of the policies put in place by ex-governor/quitter Sarah Palin. The oil industry has reduced investment in Alaska because of Palin's windfall profits tax (see ACES). Lack of investment means less jobs.
FYI: Palin's high approval had a lot to do with her socialist policies. Unfortunately, many people like politicians that give them free money by redistributing wealth.

Reagan proposed cutting tax rates and got Congress to go along. Federal revenues DOUBLED. He also proposed cuts in the growth rate of government spending, and Congress went along. Reagan proposed massive spending to rebuild the military after your liberal icon, Jimmy Carter had decimated it, with the Russians were still on the march, and Congress went along. In return, Reagan, who is primarily responsible for foreign policy, was able to get the Soviets to break up and implode. Wise up.
If you knew anything about finance, you would know that deficts by themselves don't tell you anything. It is deficits as a % of GDP that count. Except during the Clinton years when we had surpluses created by Newt Gingrich's Contract with America and welfare reform and the technological and communications revolutions of the 90's, deficits in the US have typically run around 3% of GDP, because when properly applied they stimulate the economy. Uber-liberal Obama and his uber-liberal Democrat Congress passed a useless stimulus plan that has raised the deficit to 10% of GDP because the economy was not stimulated, and this number is on the way up as tax revenues decline. They have given businesses incentives to create jobs which is why we have 10% unemployment rates which will also rise especially if they pass their absurd health care bills and cap and tax plans.

For example, helping the 15 to 20 million of us who are hard-core health care uninsurables through no fault of their own, instead of messing up the entire private health care system for everyone. Modern political liberals are uncertain about all these things, especially uncertain that America is a force for good and the ultimate guarantor of freedom and democracy in the world. This is why Obama can be seen bowing and genuflecting before world leaders and apologizing to everyone for defending freedom throughout our history.
