What the media is not telling you about the homeless kid problem in Anchorage

The Anchorage school district claims 1,176 students are homeless. If that number seems high to you, there is a reason for it. It is artificially high. The Anchorage School District characterizes kids who live with relatives as homeless. If you live with your grandmother, uncle, or any relative, according to the Anchorage School District you are homeless. If two families live under the same roof, all kids living in that household are homeless according to the district.
Just how many Anchorage kids are actually homeless? By homeless meaning kids with no place to sleep at night. Or kids who have to jump from couch to couch each night or kids with no place to call home. Dave Mayo-Kiely, the program coordinator of the Child in Transition/Homeless Project says he doesn’t know.
This is unacceptable since Anchorage taxpayers are already overburdened. If we are spending money on kids who are not homeless then we have less to spend on kids who are actually without a home.
Mayo-Kiely couldn’t say how much the district spends on the Child in Transition/Homeless Project. The very program he runs.
Mayo-Kiely did say the district pays for transportation costs for almost 80 percent of the 1100 plus so-called homeless kids including putting several students in taxicabs each day. Mayo-Kiely could not say how much the district spends each year in cab fare transporting students.
The district claims the number of so-called homeless kids have gone up 38 percent this year over last. But the district also admits heavily recruiting new kids for the program that offers free lunches and transportation. The district also admits there is no means testing to qualify for the program.

equals the formula used. Where they conservative or liberal in the formula used? In reality I want to see Oliver in the formula, not everywhere except mom and dads.
That made no sense, Mr. Hole. What are you failing to convey?
Please try 1) accurately portraying what the person you were interviewing said, 2) doing actual research.
I spoke to the man myself, did my own research, and wrote a rebuttle:

LOL - No matter if your rebuttle is true or not, it's hard to get past its title where you question why Dan hates homeless children.
It alludes to the many articles written like this:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=why+do+democrats+hate+america&aq=f&oq=&aqi=
So can you clarify... Do you personaly believe Dan hates homeless children?
I BET THEY DO WHEN IT FAVORS THEIR AGENDAS
Well to borrow the words of your hero " There you go again Dan". Uhhhh I dont need to listen to the tape because this article is well, riduculous. First what differnce does it matter if two or two hundred children are homeless as you decribe them, there are more homeless kids now than before that is the fact. We, meaning a civilized society need to give them the best chance we can, so they can grow up and be nice little self supporting fake conservatives like you and take care of only them selves with no help from any body else or help any one else. With out all that interference from the goverment you know like delivering the mail, defending the country and putting bad guys in jail after all goverment can't do any thing right.
Just look at the succeses of the private sector ENRON, AIG, Chrysler (two bailouts) oh yeah and KBR who was bankrupt until the Iraq war started.
And this baloney about overburdend tax payers here in Anchorage, you know what I say, sophistary. Where did you get your facts becuse I have read study after study that says we are the least burdedned so called tax payers in the country. As matter of fact you are being subsidized by some single mom in California who pays way more in tax money than she gets back . Why? Because we Alaskans get 6 dollars back in federal spending for every dollar we put out. In fact we are spending Chinas money, not our own.
If you are flopping on some ones couch and have to carry youur belongings in a garbage sack I'd say that makes you homeless. Try walking in these childrens shoes see how secure you feel in you life then try concentrating on school. Not easy.
Totally clueless about the subject at hand.
Tell me ODonnel, if my wife and I die in a firey crash and our children go and live in my relative's 6000 sqfoot home on the lower hillside, would you classify our kids as homeless?
so it doesn't qualify.
